Technical Studies-
Dancers at the Academy receive training from our professional staff in
ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, Contemporary, pre-dance, and
hip-hop. All dancers who take classes have the option in performing in
our Spring Gala as well as our additional community performances.
Competitive
Dance-
The Bedford
Dance Academy's dance team will be going on its 10th year of competing.
We have won several high awards through the years with many of our dancers
winning scholarships to study dance all over the United States. Competitive
dance is for the serious dancer who is willing to put forth many hours in the
studio per week. Travel is also involved.
Ballet
Company-
Dancers must have 5 years of ballet to audition for
"company". Dancers take an extra class each week called
"Company Class". Students in "company" receive training
in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern. This upcoming dance year we plan
on bringing in choreographers to work with the dancers.
Ballet-
This class is designed to develop skills in classical ballet.
Pointe-
The ultimate in ballet technique for the female ballet dancer.
The instructor will decide if a dancer is ready to dance on Pointe.
Tap-
A type of dance where rhythmic sounds are created by the feet.
Jazz-
A free style form of dance that emphasizes precision, freedom, and
high-intensity of movement. Class always begins with a series of
exercises to build flexibility, strengthen, and avoid possible injury.
Lyrical-
A form of dance where emotion is expressed through dance.
Hip-Hop-
A class designed for both boys and girls. Learn how to dance like those
you see in music videos.
